Plan a Wedding and a Marriage

You're engaged and planning your big day. You have the colors, the date, and working on the guest list...in all the planning for your big day don't forget to plan for what comes after- your marriage.

All too often brides get carried away in the excitement of planning a wedding that they fail to plan the marriage. Premarital counseling is a great way to ensure you and your hubby -to be- stay on the same page through the planning process and well into your lives together. Contact your church or your officiant and they will be more than happy to help you with your counseling needs. Your wedding is a very important day- but it is just that- one day.

Engaged ? How to Get Started

  1. Make the Announcement- you said "yes"... now its time to tell your family and friends. You can do this with a pleasant phone call, mail announcements, the local newspaper, engagement photo's or video.

  2. Set a Budget- You and your fiance should discuss a budget before anything else. This will help you get an idea of the type of wedding you will be able to create and how many guests to invite.

  3. Discuss a Date- Once you have made the announcement..questions about the date wont be far behind. Let people know if a date has already been set, if not then let potential guests know to look out for your save the date.

  4. Pick Overall Theme- Think about the colors, style, and identify formal or informal. Choose 3 adjectives you would like to describe your wedding and build your ideas around them.

A Pocket full of Posy- How to make a Posy Bouquet

You will need: greenery, flowers ( snapdragons, roses, tulips, lisianthus, eucalyptus and viburnum shown), florist tape, pairing knife, glass vase, flower preservative

Steps:
1. Gather your long-stemmed flowers
2. 8 to 10 inches from the top of flowers, remove all foliage and thorns from the stems with a paring knife.

3. Hold a cluster of several flowers in your left hand, at the midpoint of the stems. Gradually add other blooms, three stems at a time. Place each addition of flowers on the right and angle the stems to the left, gradually forming a spiral. As you add the rest of the flowers, give the bouquet frequent clockwise quarter turns.

At the center of the spiral, tightly wrap the stems with florist tape, as pictured.

4. Cut stems straight across the bottom

5. Set the Posy in the glass vase filled with water and flower preservative; cut and remove tape. Change the water every 2 to 3 days
