Engaged ? How to Get Started

  1. Make the Announcement- you said "yes"... now its time to tell your family and friends. You can do this with a pleasant phone call, mail announcements, the local newspaper, engagement photo's or video.

  2. Set a Budget- You and your fiance should discuss a budget before anything else. This will help you get an idea of the type of wedding you will be able to create and how many guests to invite.

  3. Discuss a Date- Once you have made the announcement..questions about the date wont be far behind. Let people know if a date has already been set, if not then let potential guests know to look out for your save the date.

  4. Pick Overall Theme- Think about the colors, style, and identify formal or informal. Choose 3 adjectives you would like to describe your wedding and build your ideas around them.

A Pocket full of Posy- How to make a Posy Bouquet

You will need: greenery, flowers ( snapdragons, roses, tulips, lisianthus, eucalyptus and viburnum shown), florist tape, pairing knife, glass vase, flower preservative

Steps:
1. Gather your long-stemmed flowers
2. 8 to 10 inches from the top of flowers, remove all foliage and thorns from the stems with a paring knife.

3. Hold a cluster of several flowers in your left hand, at the midpoint of the stems. Gradually add other blooms, three stems at a time. Place each addition of flowers on the right and angle the stems to the left, gradually forming a spiral. As you add the rest of the flowers, give the bouquet frequent clockwise quarter turns.

At the center of the spiral, tightly wrap the stems with florist tape, as pictured.

4. Cut stems straight across the bottom

5. Set the Posy in the glass vase filled with water and flower preservative; cut and remove tape. Change the water every 2 to 3 days

Top Wedding Trends for 2011

1. The Dress- Lace is still in this year! Accompanied with soft fabrics and tulle. Ruffles and trumpet skirts will make their way to the aisle, but new on the scene are short, cocktail dresses.

2. Colors- Brights will be your new best friend and will aid in the scheme for your wedding this year. Lets not forget about vintage!

3. The Cake- Higher equals better! Buttercream is kicking fondant to the curb, and flavors like chocolate orange, almond, and lemon are just a few of the fresh new flavors that will keep your taste buds happy, according to TheBeautyBridal.com.

4.
Favors- Inexpensive is the way to go as you and other brides are still coping with the effects of the recession. Make them edible or even choose a DYI(do it yourself) project to save some cash, and give your guest a farewell token to remember your special day.

5.
Eco-Friendly Weddings- Keeping the environment in mind GreatGreenWeddings.com had great ides for considering this trend! Make use of post consumer paper, reuse flowers, and even consider a second hand dress, would be some great ideas if your considering this trend!
